US deploys first B-52 bombers in Qatar for fight against ISIS
The first long-range US B-52 bombers to be deployed to the Middle East since 1991 have been based at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Air Force Lt. Gen. Charles Broad, head of the US Air Forces Central Command announced Saturday. He did not reveal the number deployed. Brown said the B-52 bombers deliver precision weapons and are also capable of “strategic attack, close-air support, air interdiction and maritime operations.”
