North Korea claims detonating its first hydrogen bomb

Pyongyang announced “complete success” in detonating its first hydrogen bomb, shortly after a 5.1 seismic event was detected by world instruments along the North Korean northeast coast. If this is confirmed, it would dramatically escalate the nuclear challenge posed by this dangerous regime. A UN Security Council emergency meetting is scheduled for later Wednesday.
