Israel’s left-of-center forms new bloc for election run

Far-left Meretz headed by Nitzan Horowitz, Ehud Barak’s  new “Israel Democracy” party and Labor defectors led by trendy leftist Stav Shafir Thursday morning set up a joint list for the September general election. The amalgamated grouping calls itself “The Democratic Camp.” Horowitz tops the list of Knesset candidates, followed by Shafir and ex-IDF deputy commander Yair Golan in second and third slots. The 10th slot goes to former PM Barak.
