Israel rejects talks under Hamas fire

Israel has denied Egyptian and Palestinian sources report5 eariler Saturday that its negotiators would return to Cairo Saturday night with new proposals, after walking out when Hamas resumed firing rockets Friday morning. Israel also denied claims by the same sources that Hamas and Islamic Jihad were not responsible for the barrage, but were not interfering with attacks by other radical Palestinian groups. Israeli military sources said only that the rocket fire which continued Saturday could “go on for some weeks.”
