Hamas spied on Israeli soldiers by planting alluring images on their mobiles
Hamas spyware infected the mobiles of hundreds of soldiers with images of fictitious young women to tempt them into unloading three applications – Catch and See, ZatuApp or Grixy App. The soldiers’ mobiles were then connected to Hamas servers which activated cameras and downloaded files to expose the soldiers’ contacts and GPS data. Over the weekend, the relevant IDF outfit and the Shin Bet security service took down the Hamas servers used in the scheme. The infected mobiles are being examined to assess the damage caused by the Palestinian terrorist organization’s catfish scheme.
