Gilead Erdan asks PM to shut down Homeland Security Ministry

Minister for Homeland Security Gilead Ardon asked Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to shut down his department. He announced he would step down at the end of next month and asked the prime minister to transfer the department’s functions to the Defense Ministry. Constant clashes over the division of authority between the two ministries had made it impossible for the Homeland Security Ministry to prepare the home front for emergencies as it was mandated, the ministry’s director-general stated in his letter of resignation earlier Tuesday.
