Egyptian army chief vows to stand firm, Brothers cancel rallies

Egypt’s army chief Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said Sunday that anyone who resorts to violence will not be tolerated, but the army has no intention of seizing power.  "We will not stand by silently watching the destruction of the country and the people or the torching the nation and terrorizing the citizens," said the general, then turned to pro-Morsi supporters and said: “There is room for everyone in Egypt.”
The pro-Morsi protesters cancelled two rallies in Cairo, for “security reasons.” Reporters say that after nearly 800 people were killed in three days of violence between Islamist protesters and security forces, shops opened in the tense Egyptian capital Sunday and people started going about their business.
