Curfew disputed as covid infection stays high

The coronavirus cabinet plans on Sunday to resolve the dispute over the next stage of eased restrictions with infection figures still high – 815 new cases on Thursday, 2,1pc positive results from 40,000 tests, 293 hospitalized patients in serious condition and 2,706 fatalities. PM Netanyahu’s proposed night curfew from next Tuesday has run into strong opposition from ministers, while the health authorities question its effectiveness for driving down the infection figures.  Meanwhile the reopening of shopping malls and more school classes in the third stage of the exit strategy is hanging fire.
