Concerted US, German, French bid to curb Ukraine conflict
US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Kiev Thursday for talks with Ukraine President Viktor Poroshenko. He was joined in those talks by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande, who planned to continue to Moscow to meet President Vladimir Putin. The three leaders have embarked on a major initiative to contain the expanding conflict between pro-Russian rebels and Kiev at time when the former has attained the upper hand.
