Brahimi to hand Assad US-Russian plan for easing him out

According to the French paper Le Figaro, UN-Arab League peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi was assigned to present Syrian ruler Bashar Assad with a joint US-Russian plan for ending the Syrian conflict. A transitional government representing the parties to the conflict would rule the country for two years followed by a presidential election in which Assad would not be eligible to run.
