A 31-apartment building is approved in Hebron’s Jewish quarter
Israel’s Higher Planning Council for Judea and Samaria Monday issued permits for an apartment house of 31 units to go up in Hebron’s Jewish Hezkiah Quarter – for the first time in 15 years. The Arab municipality of the town plans to challenge the project in Israel’s Supreme Court.
It is seen, inter alia, as Israel’s response to UNESCO’s recent approval of Hebron’s Old City, site of the Jewish Patriarchs, as an “endangered Palestinian World Heritage Site.”
