The funerals of Eyal Yifrach, Gil-Ad Shaer and Naftali Frenkel, buried side by side, Tuesday, July 1, were a national event, drawing many tens of thousands of sorrowing sympathizers from every segment of the population. Their anguish over the senseless murders of the three boys, shortly after they were kidnapped on June 10 on their way home, was mixed with anger and demands for real retribution. The massed mourners will be expecting Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who joined them, to make good on his vow to make Hamas pay.

DEBKAfile Special Report June 30, 2014
Eyal Yifrach, 19, Gil-Ad Shaer and Naftali Frenkel, both aged 16, were found dead Monday, June 30, in the Palestinian village of Kachil near Halhoul north of Hebron. They were apparently thrown in haste in a field by their kidnappers. Their parents were informed earlier of the discovery. The all-out search of 20 days has switched urgently from Operation Brother’s Keeper for the boys to the hunt for their kidnappers. The Israeli cabinet was summoned to an emergency session Monday night to determine how to respond to the tragic deaths.
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report June 19, 2014
Israel's major intelligence agencies have diverted their most sophisticated financial and technological resources to the top-priority task of sweeping the media for a trace of the three kidnapped Israeli teenagers, now missing for six days. Their failure to pick up any signs of life by Thursday, June 19, points away from the direct involvement of a major terrorist organization, and tends more toward an ad-hoc cell with as few as three or four members. Unlike a large organization, a small cell could operate for long periods off the communication grid.
