First Hamas rockets were fired or intercepted Tuesday night, July 8, over Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Rishon Lezion, Givatayim, Raanana, Caesarea and Yavne. No casualties were reported, but a house was hit in N. Jerusalem. Hamas also made several attempts to smuggle terrorists into Israel for attacks: The IDF repelled a Hamas naval commando landing on Ashkelon’s Zikkim beach. Another group of terrorists tried to creep into Israel through a tunnel under the Kerem Shalom crossing. It was discovered when the tunnel blew up under an IDF post.

A medium-sized bomb exploded on a Dan No. 240 bus in Bat Yam on the outskirts of Tel Aviv Monday, Dec. 22, in what the police believe is a fresh outbreak of Palestinian terrorist attacks on Israeli civilian transport. A passenger spotted an unattended bag and alerted the driver who pulled over, cleared the bus and called the police in time. A police sapper who tried to defuse the bomb slightly hurt his hand when it blew up. Police judge the incident to be terror-related for a multiple-casualty attack.

Missile alert sirens sounded across Greater Tel Aviv Saturday, Nov. 17, before an explosion caused by Iron Dome’s interception of one of the two rockets incoming from the Gaza Strip against Israel’s largest conurbation for the third day in a row. The second rocket landed harmlessly on open ground.

Eight people were injured in South Tel Aviv early Monday, Aug. 29, when a Palestinian from the West Bank town of Nablus grabbed a taxi, ran over pedestrians, jumped out outside a night club and stabbed four Border Police officers, two seriously, at a checkpoint. He shouted Allah Akhbar and verses from the Koran throughout the attack . Several hundred teen agers were milling in and out of the Hauman 17 club in South Tel Aviv for a back-to-school party. The assailant was captured after a struggle.

Aviv Morag, 29, from Caesaria was killed shortly before his marriage and 17 people were injured - two in serious condition - after being run down by an Israeli Arab, 22, from Kafr Qassem in Tel Aviv, Sunday, May 15. The killer's truck swerved left and right along 2 kilometers of busy road in South Tel Aviv. After knocking over a traffic light, the driver jumped out and shouting Allah Akhbar! used the pieces to beat passers-by who eventually overpowered him.

A Turkish embassy spokesman in Tel Aviv said the incident of Aug. 17 began when a man broke into the building with a knife by jumping over the outer fence. He was shot in the leg inside the building after taking two hostages and threatening to kill them and set it on fire if he was denied asylum in Turkey. He was later identified as a Palestinian called Nadiv Injessa, 32, from Ramallah. He was released from jail a few weeks ago after serving time for various offenses including breaking into the UK embassy four years ago and demanding asylum there too.
