Hizballah is creeping up on Israel’s Golan border, relying on Russian military cover
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report October 23, 2015

The Syrian conflict is again bringing the hostile Iran-backed Hizballah into dangerous proximity to Israel’s border. After visiting Quneitra last week, Iran’s Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Russian air force chiefs in Syria concluded that Russian air strikes are necessary to break the deadlock in the Quneitra battle against rebel forces. Israel has informed Moscow and Washington that this would cross its red lines against Iranian and Hizballah forces moving in on its Golan border and Russian aerial activity over southern Syria.

The war would go on, he said, unless Israel relinquishes its resolve to eliminate his organization’s and an Iranian presence on Syrian soil in Quneitra. “The resistance no longer cares about rules of engagement,” he said, after conferring with Al Qods Brigades chief, Gen. Qassem Soleimani on a visit to Beirut. Earlier Friday, PM Binyamin Netanyahu accused Iran of backing a continuous offensive to uproot Israel. It won’t succeed, he said.

Iran’s Lebanese proxy, Hizballah, used five anti-tank rockets and roadside bombs for an ambush which killed at least two IDF servicemen, an officer and a soldier, traveling in unarmored vehicles opposite Kfar Ghajar Wednesday, Jan. 28, debkafile reports. Seven soldiers were injured. The IDF notice did not specify the officer’s rank or the group’s mission in the area. Due to the convoy’s careless security, Hizballah and Iran scored three points in this attack. Israel’s armed forces must now pull out all the stops to recover respect for its deterrent capacity.

Concrete bulwarks trucked to Israel's northern border
Tense Israeli-Hizballah shadow war stops short of skirmishes. Overnight mystery blast
DEBKAfile Special Report January 26, 2015

Israel and Iran’s Lebanese surrogate, the Shiite Hizballah, are both evidently sounding out their opponents’ intentions after vows of revenge for the air strike which killed a dozen Hizballah and Iranian officers on the Golan on Jan. 18. Heightened military movements in the last 24 hours focus on the 900-meters tall Ramim Ridge. Sunday night, as a large explosion was heard in Lebanon, huge IDF trucks transported concrete ramparts to the Upper Galilee, in case Hizballah resorts to a sniper attack like the one that killed a high Israeli officer five years ago.
