For the first time, Iron Dome performed in Eilat, intercepting and destroying a rocket fired from Sinai at Israel’s southernmost town. No casualties or damage was reported except for two shock victims. According to Egyptian sources, three rockets were fired, two intercepted by Iron Dome and the third falling on a deserted area. Sirens were heard across the town. The attack was claimed by two al-Qaeda linked Sinai groups - Ansar Beit al-Maqdis and the Mujahideen Shura Council, which claimed it was in retaliation for Israel’s alleged air strike in northern Sinai near Rafah Friday which killed four jihadis. That air strike was claimed by the Egyptian army.
